otakunick retro reviews (mugen no Ryvius )
hey guys its me again with all my free time i have now being a jobless bum i figerd why the hell not ceach up not only on the curent anime iv yet to watch but to go back and watch one iv been meening to see but never did well iv done just that by watching mugen no Ryvius a scifi anime from sunrise and directed by Taniguchi, Goro who was the Original Creator of code geass thow you would not know that just by watching the show in fact the only indastry big shot youl be abel to pin this on just by watching it would be the Character Designer Hirai, Hisashi who is best know for his work on gundam seed but he also did the Character Design for Kurogane no Linebarrels, Soukyuu no Fafner: Dead Aggressor and Scryed all of witch are better shows then gundam seed in my personal opinion
but lets face it the Character Design is not what makes this show worth watching its the story The year is AD 2225. Kouji Aiba and Aoi Housen are serving as astronauts in-training in Liebe Delta which is located on the edge of the Geduld Sea. When saboteurs with unknown intents suddenly strike during a routine dive procedure, the space station plummets into the Geduld, a plasma field that links all the planets like a nervous system and crushes any ship that strays too far into it. With all the adults onboard killed, the young astronauts will have to survive this long journey home in midst of the growing tension amongst each other( and when i say tension i meen it). Meanwhile the organizers of the sabotage look on and prepare to attack once more. its this story and how the dialog flows that going to make you want to keep watching this show how these kids act is the most realistic out of all other shows with similar themes
the sound track is okay not my Favorite but it gets the job dune and the hip hop overtone of it rely helps lighten the mood on sum of the more depressing eps the op would have to be my Favorite score from the sound track it rely fits the show and lets you know just what its all rely about and oddly enough dos not sound haff bad translated ether
now i know iv been singing this shows parse but thare are sum down falls two and one of them would have to be the voice acting for the most part its okay but having a cast that litaraly 99% under the age of 18 makes for sum rely squeaky and annoying voices now i know it fits for the cast but still even i did not sound as nasoly as haff this kids at 16 and i know this is one of thos well anime is not made for the US and i know that but comon i know sum Japanese people and they never sounded like that ether
and the animation can be a bit slopy at times but from a show made in 1999 it looks good not the best but defiantly passably so over all i have to say this is a watch and if you like it a buy witch cunsitering you can get all 26 eps for less then 25$ thats not a bad deal ofcorse for me even thats to much lol well till next time see you guys

otakunick retro reviews (golden boy)
hey guys im back with more free time thanks to me losing my job so you know what that means... thats right im going to have no time to do reviews cause il be spending all my time looking for work... just kidding it means you guys are in store for more reviews and to start things off how about a review on a anime from the mid 90s when my life was focused more on how i was going to pass my eng test not tiring to find work to feed myself and oddly enough this anime is about a guy who takes studding to a new extremes thats right today i review golden boy
golden boy aired Oct 27, 1995 to Jun 28, 1996 and was a 6 ep OVA and was the brain child of Egawa, Tatsuya whos other works include Power Dolls and Tokyo Daigaku Monogatari nether of witch i have seen but have been looking for
now for the story Kintarou Oe doesn't look like it, but he is a genius who completed all his university courses and then quit before graduating. He becomes a wandering student, going from place to place on his bicycle, seeking to learn what he can about life, the world, and women. He is willing and able to do any job he has to prove himself. His travels take him to a variety of locations and a variety of women, each who learns to love the hardworking guy, but not before he can run off. i know this probably dos not sound to interesting but it plays out much better and much funny-er and if you dont believe me just watch the DVD trailer
as for the art its has more income with late 80s anime then the stuff that was coming out in the 90s witch i think works in the show benefit i dont think the show would look as good if it had the same art as tenchi muyo or sum thing like that all the charters are properly proportioned except when they do sum thing outrageous for comedic value and i love the detail and color pallet they put into each frame you can rely tell how hard the animators worked on it
i cant say much on the voice work because i saw this dubbed and well lets just say the eng dub barley gets a pass the cast tires hard but thars just sum thing missing but over all i have to say go and watch this anime its short funny and you can get the full series for less then 40$

otakunick gundam reviews (mobile suit gundam)
hey guys it me and yea im late at putting sum thing up again tho at lest this time its only by a coppel hours and not a day or two now for this weeks review i am doing another retro review because i have not finished the show i am watching and was plaining on reviewing because i have been to bissy getting redy to go away on my vacation this thursday but fear not i will be back befor the next post is sapost to go up and by then i will have sum thing good for you i think
so to minamise the amount of thinking i am starting a series of reviews on a a fanchise in witch i know just about everything gundam and i will be starting with the grandady of them all 0079
lets start off with the story Universal Century 0079: The Principality of Zeon has declared its independence from the Earth Federation, and subsequently launched a massive war of independence, a war which has raged in every continent on earth and in nearly every space colony and lunar settlement. The Zeon have the upper hand through their use of a revolutionary new type of weapon, their humanoid like mobile suits. When a Zeon recon team disobey mission orders and begin attacking Side 7 its citizens stumble across the Federations latest weapon: the Gundam. With the aid of Earth Federation soldiers stationed aboard the MS carrier White Base the newly formed crew of refugees set out to change the course of the One Year War — or die trying now for thos that have watched other gundams or hell many other mecha anime this mite sound fermiluer well thats becasue this is the story that has sponed the intier teal robot ganra of anime and is still omiged to this day
the art is your standerd late 70s art so if that art puts you off you mite whant to whait till gundam the origin comes out and thare are alot of funy animation blunders thew out but this was normel for the 70S
the music was good atlest good enuph for andrew w.k redo the intier soundtrack and good enuph for me to still listion to it
so all and all i say give it a watch but i do understand if you dint think youd like it because it is old

otakunick retro reviews (rahxephon)
hey guys i know i am a day late but i have a good reason for it i recently got the DVD box set of the rahxephon anime series and i wanted top do a retro review on it since its nerly 10 years old (tho you would not be able to tell just by looking at the animation) so without further adue lets get started oh and be wornd thare will be spoilers
now then since i got the DVD box set that alredy probly tells you wether or not i think this show is worth buying but lety me say it ether way this is a anime i think everyone should watch at one pont in time just like evangelion infact evangelion and rahxephone are often compared due to thare simalaratys bolth of them are shows that deal with mechas that become god and change the world granted in rahxephone this change is for the best and in eva its just a apocaleps but whatever
i gess you guys want a brake down well lets start with the story In the year 2012 Japan was invaded by the Mu. Human-like beings from another dimension with blue blood.
In the year 2015 Tokyo is attacked by invaders, who are repelled by a humanoid weapon called a Dolem. During the chaos, Ayato Kamina meets Reika Mishima, a classmate.
During that same day, he is attacked by government officials but a woman named Haruka comes to his rescue, informing him that she was sent to get him by the Organization TERRA, and that Tokyo had been sealed in a time rift where time flows one third as fast as the outside world.
He flees from Haruka onto a train where he sees Reika once more. Arriving at the Room of Rah, he follows her to a tremendous egg where the Dolem RahXephon is hatched from, and upon her singing his mother appears atop the Dolem that had stopped the TERRA Invasion. In the battle Ayato's mother is injured, and Ayato flees Tokyo Jupiter with Haruka upon seeing his mother's blue blood a good way to draw people in if i do say so myself above all els you should watch a show for the story and rahxepons story dos a great job pulling you in and holding you tight right up to the end
and the OST is also sum thing that shines in this anime but with so many musical references it damn well better be great i can say aside from from one or two other series thare is almost no anime i wach the OP and end songs for on each ep but in rahxephon i cant help but do so they are among my top anime op and endings
up next the art if you remember in my first paragraph i menchened you would not be able to tell this was nearly 10 years old thats because it looks that good if i did not know any better i say it was made in 2007 or 2008 not 2002 back in 2002 the anime industry was still just steeping into using computers cell animation it was more likely to see stuff like excele saga with vary in your face coloring compared to rahxephones more pastel color palet not to menchon the fact that I found it hard to find any drop in animation quality witch for a 2002 anime of 26 ep is hard to do hell even 12 ep anime for this season have a drop in quality every now and then so yea this os one good looking anime
as for the voice work i will admite i have never wached this anime in its original Japanese dub back when i first watched this on the anime network it was in ENG and apon my re-watche nerly 7 years latter i still whent straight for the eng dub not because i was lazy but because for this to be a proper retro review i needed to watch it in the same dun i first wached it in so see how it stands up to time and i have to say this dub is one thats still good defiantly one of the best dubs to come from ADV (tho there dubs were ushaly good to begin with)and compared to todays dubs its like music to my ears (yes I just did use a music reference to discrib a dub from a anime that uses music turmanolagy almost every fucking ep)
so over all i have to say go out and get this anime you can still find the box set with a bit of diging and it will make a great addition to any anime collection
