OtakuNick reviews: Kakumeiki Valvrave (Valvrave the Liberator)

Hey guys OtakuNick hear witch a new review for you. Yes I know Its been a long time but I was in a rely big slump but now Im back and tho I will not be posting as often I will be posting what I love the post the most reviews of anime. Because Iv alwaysed beleved its the duty of thows that have watched way to much to gide thows that have watched almost nothing. so with out any more delays lets get to it.

Production
This anime was brout to us by three company's first being Sunrise beast known for being the animation company behind the mobile suit Gundam franchise witch hase be going for nerly 35 years now. But they where also the company that gave us Code Geass, Cowboy Bebop, and many more anime now cunsitered classics. the next two companys are mor like one as they are just to branches of the same parent company Aniplex, and Aniplex of America. If thow names ring more bells in your head then sunrise that is no saprise as they are the ones that brout you animes like Blood+, Darker then black, and most notably Fullmetal Alchemist and  Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. So needless to say this anime has alot of big names behind it.

Staff
Now then even if the show was made by big companys that dosint meen they will be good no thats up to the staff. And let me say the people that worked on this anime know thar stuff. First off we have the Director Matsuo, Kou thow I wouldint call him the most well know director he dos a okay job hear and sum of his more notable works includ being on the Storyboard staff for Gundom 00. next up is Okouchi, Ichiro the script writer unlike Matsuo Kou  Okouchi, Ichiro is what Id call a big time player as he work on sum farly high profiled shows as a script writer such as Trun A gundam, code geass, and Eureka Seven He even wrote the  Screenplay from one of my favret lesser know anime Shigofumi. So needless to say the scrip is in good hands. Now then whare would a Mecha anime be without kick ass robots well Washio, Naohiro has you covered thar this is the man behinf the Fafner in Soukyuu no Fafner: Dead Aggressor - Exodus and he makes sum rely cool looking mecha for this anime.

Story
True Calendar (T.C.) 71 - A new age where 70% of the human population lives in space thanks to the development of "Dyson Sphere", a city in space.

The world is divided into two main powers: The Dorssia Military Pact Federation, a power which grew out of a military alliance, and the Atlantic Rim United States (ARUS), which grew in power as it expanded its trade agreements. The minor nation of JIOR has declared neutrality between these two forces and maintains its peace through economic prosperity.

Within the JIOR's Sphere, Haruto Tokishima lived an ordinary life as a high school student in the division known as "Module 77"—until the Dorssian military begins their sudden invasion!

But the whole world will be shaken when Haruto meets the mysterious humanoid weapon, Valvrave!

Now then the story may seem like your basic gundam rip off and cunsitering this animes back ground one couldint be blamed for doing so. But its the sub plots that are rely going to get you to watch this anime. And I must say the way the first season leaves off you will ether be dreading you have to wait so long for season two or just give up on the show. myself I cant wait for season two.

Art/Animation
like I sed this anime was made by both sunrise and aniplex two companys known for having good animation in thare more high profile shows and let me just say they do no disapont sunrise is in top form with animating the mecha and aniplexes charters are as crisp and emoting as ever when it comes to animation this show has the beast of bolth worlds.

Sound/Music
Okay so so fare we hve talked about the story, art and who made the show all that is left is how the show sounds. I have to say I love the OST and sound effects in this show plain and simple. Yes the OST is no ware near Yoko Kano level work but for this show is great I always have a hard time skipping the OP and I never skip the ending theme as for insert songs thow non stick out to me as must haves at the time they worked varry well. so over all I say this is a varry nicely put togreather sound track

Vertic

Okay so for you that just like a yea or nay type revie and dont whant to read my long winded review hears the clifnotes. the show is good it come from good stock and its art is good looking. the story is okay the main plot will not be turing many heads but the subplots will keep you intaresed in the show  and show is has a polerising ending for the first season thare will be a second season. and the music is nice. so basicly Im say this is worth a watch .

OtakuHome News: NY Int'l Children's Film Fest has one great line up this year

The New York International Children's Film Festival (NYICFF) will screen Studio Ghibli and Goro Miyazaki's From Up On Poppy Hill, Mamoru Hosoda's Wolf Children, and Koji Masunari's Welcome to THE SPACE SHOW films. Tickets for the March festival went on sale Friday.

From Up On Poppy Hill is a Studio Ghibli film based on a 1960's shōjo manga of the same name by Tetsurō Sayama and Chizuru Takahashi. The film follows Umi (Sarah Bolger) and Shun (Anton Yelchin) in a budding romance as they come together to save their school's clubhouse from destruction in preparation for the 1964 Tokyo Olympics. Hayao Miyazaki wrote the screenplay adaptation and the film was directed by Goro Miyazaki. GKids will release the film in theaters and on home video. The festival will screen the English-dubbed version of the film on March 16 and 17.

Next  Wolf Children is the newest film directed by one of my favret directors Mamoru Hosoda, who gained international fame with The Girl Who Leapt Through Time and Summer Wars. Funimation licensed Wolf Children and plans to release it this year in theaters and on home video. The film's story covers 13 years and begins with a 19-year-old college student named Hana who encounters and falls in "fairy tale-like" love with a "wolf man." After marrying the wolf man, Hana gives birth and raises two wolf children — an older sister named Yuki ("snow") who was born on a snowy day, and a younger brother named Ame ("rain") who was born on a rainy day. When the wolf man suddenly dies, Hana decides to move to a rural town far removed from the city. The festival will screen the film with English subtitles on March 9 and 24.

And finaly Welcome to THE SPACE SHOW returns to the NYICFF on March 3 and 16. The festival will host the U.S. premiere the English dub of the film, which was recorded by NYAV Post and features Cassandra Lee, Marc Diraison, Matthew Jacob Wayne, Michael Sinterniklaas, Michaela Dean, and Stephanie Sheh. Directed by Koji Masunari (Read or Die) and animated by A-1 Pictures, Welcome to THE SPACE SHOW is a science-fiction adventure in which four children from rural Japan are stranded in space after meeting an alien dog at summer camp.

over all this is a great line up of child frendly movies so anyone of my readers that live in NY I sajest you grab sum ticets wall you still can espesholy you who have kids.

OtakuHome News: Reki Kawahara at sakura-com

The organizers of Sakura-Con announced on Friday that Sword Art Online creator Reki Kawahara will appear at the March 29-31 convention in Seattle.

Kawahara debuted with his light novel work Accel World in 2008 and followed it up with Sword Art Online. The television anime adaptation of Accel World premiered last April and Viz Media streamed the series as it aired in Japan. Viz Media also added the series to its upcoming Neon Alley lineup.

The anime adaptation of Sword Art Online began streaming on Crunchyroll as it aired in July. The story revolves around a boy named Kazuto "Kirito" Kirigaya who enters a virtual-reality, massively multi-player online (MMO) world called "Sword Art Online." There is no escape from this world unless the player clears the game, but "game over" means the death of the player. Aniplex USA licensed the series for North American release.

Kawahara has over 10 million copies of his novels in print.

Sakura-Con stated that Kawahara is part of its "Sword Art Online Mega Pack" guest line-up, which will include a Sword Art Online concert. LiSA, Eir Aoi, Haruka Tomatsu, and Luna Haruna all performed themes for the series. Aniplex of America brought over LiSA's Sword Art Online single, "crossing field," last August, and the company revealed during its live-streaming panel on Friday that it will offer a special exclusive at the convention. what the exclusives are I have no idea but truth be told I could also care less about that as I myself would rather just have sum one on one time with Mr.  Kawahara  so I could intaview him. But sadly that will not happen as thare is no posable way my poor ass can go to Seattle. but if any of my readers are going I urge you to let me know how it was and if you send me any nice storys Il put the best ones up and site the people that send them to me as cuntributers. thats right this is your chance to become part of the OtakuHome news team.

heay thare old school fans its OtakuNick hear with sum big news about sumthing I thought to be finished a long time ago. G-mode's Comic Meteor web manga site announced on Wednesday that Yu Yagami will return to his Those Who Hunt Elves (Elf o Karu Mono-tachi) manga with a new series on January 30.

Those Who Hunt Elves 2 will reunite (pictured from left up top) the elf Celsia Marie Claire with three travelers from Japan: the martial artist Junpei Ryuzoj, the Oscar-winning actress Airi Komiyama, and the military otaku student Ritsuko Inoue. OtakuNick revirews: Soukyuu no Fafner: Dead Aggressor

Hey guys like I sed I hadf a review in the works for you so hear it is Soukyuu no Fafner: Dead Aggressor was a anime that came out in 2004 almost 9 years. It was produced by  Xebec the same company that brought us Nadesico. But dont let that fool you this anime is anything but the fun wacky antic's that we saw in nadesico this show is 100% mecha drama. so without any ferther to do hears the brack down.

The storty starts on Tatsumiyajima witch is the central island in the middle of a small cluster of islands, in a sleepy backwater of the Japanese isles. Not much happens there, and the island's young people go to school knowing that their lives are likely to remain peaceful and undisturbed. Or so they have been taught... but the truth is different. The fate of mankind is on the line, and Tatsumiyajima is the last line of defense against a hostile and incomprehensible enemy. At the center of it all, fighting for Humanity's continued existence, is the giant robot Fafner, the dragon that guards this final treasure of mankind. Okay with a synopsis like that your probly thinking whats the big deal its just like so many other mecha anime. well dont let this little paragraph miss leed you thare is way more to the story then this synopsis is letting on. as for what that is well you will just need to watch to find out.

Next on my list is the art and animation so first thing first I whant to get one thing out of the way yes this animes Character Designer is non other then Hirai, Hisashi thr same man that did the Character Design for Gundam Seed. but befor all you seed heaters click off this page he also did the Character Design for Kurogane no Linebarrels, Mugen no Ryvius, and Scryed all of witch I cunsiter must watcxh anime. so just because the art reminds one of one anime you dont like dosint meen you shouldint give it a shot. Becasue in this case going with Hirai for this anime was probly the best chose. thare are serten thing he dos best and oldly enuph that is facial expressions shore all his faces in the shows he dos look simaler but that is to make it easyer for them to convay serten  expressions. so what Im saying is just give the art a chance you may just like it.

But if you whant sumthing to rely lach onto it is the music this show is home to one of my all time favret OST and we have a Mr Saito, Tsuneyoshi to thank for it sum of you older fans may remember his name as he also did the OST for 2 of the Tenchi Muyo! movies namly Tenchi Muyo! Manatsu no Eve and Tenchi Muyo! in Love 2: Haruka Naru Omoi witch out of all the tenchi muyo anima have the best music.  Saito, Tsuneyoshi and his teem whent all the way to Europe to record using a real orchestra and let me just say this music will probly hit you harder then any visual seen in this show.

Now with all this good thare is sum bad atlest when it come to the ENG dub. you see I have yet to watch this show in Japaneses so all I have to go on with my revew is the ENG dub and it is standered afare for its time the anime came out hear in the US around 2006 If I am remembering corectly and lets face it the state of most dug wheret varry good then. So all i can say is if you plane on getting this anime you may whant to try out the Japanese dug first

I know I normaly close thing out right about hear but befor that i have one more thing I need to talk about and that is the Blu-ray Up scalling of this anime. You see the reson I am even reviwing this anime at this point and time is because I resently got the DVD/blu-ray combo pack of the anime and let me just say this is what a Up scall should look like. Unlike Gundam seeds upscall that just look lazy and slopy this one acholy looks clean just like it did when it first aird witch is the point. So all in all I say this blu-ray relese is worth the money and would make a fine addtion to anime mecha anime fans collection.

OtakuHome News: Sentai Filmworks lands Acchi Kocchi licens

The North American anime licensing company Sentai Filmworks announced on Wednesday that it has licensed the Acchi Kocchi television anime series. The company plans to release the 13-episode series under the name Place to Place later this year on subtitled DVD and through digital outlets. In a way i am a little sad this will not be getting a dub as I loved this anime but countering dubs in this day and age tend to not be all that good I am happy I love the Japanese dub too.

The story of Ishiki's original four-panel manga follows a tsundere (initially aloof and abrasive, but later kind-hearted) girl named Tsumiki (voiced by Rumi Ookubo), the most unsociable eyeglasses-wearing boy named Io (Nobuhiko Okamoto), and their classmates.

The show originally premiered in Japan in April 2012. for thos that stuck with me youl remember that was the time I was not rely posting anything well with this annoucement I will probly get off my ass and review it soon.

So you want to be a Anime reviewer

Hey guys OtakuNick hear this time I am not hear for news or even a review tho dont worry I do have a review coming in the next 3 days or so. No I hear today to talk to all you would be anime reviewers you see recently I watched a few reviews of sum anime on youtube from a PhDmanchild . Now mind you I am not a pro reviewer I dont get payed to do this even with the ads on my site I only make like 50cet a month or so. But I try to conduct my self as if this was my job I.E I take time and research the subject to give you guys a good review. But all I could think of when watching PhDmanchilds reviews where dos he even review this stuff.

So with that I have desied to post sum tips to all you would be reviewers. first things first take your time and do your researc. If you dont research what your reviewing then your review will not be as good. Now Im not saying you need to know everything thar is to know about all the stuff you review but knowing  when it was made and witch company makes it will help.

Next up take your time I see so many new reviewers try to cram what should be a ten minutes review into 2 maybe 3 minutes on youtube or summarize everything in one paragraph. Its not a race people you have 15 minutes on youtube and for you posting on blogs and websites unless they say other whys your post can be a long as you want tho keep it withing reson no one wants to read a wall of text.

And last thing to try is to review in segments I tend to brake my reviews into parts. For thows that red my blog a lot you have probably already notes my reviews fallow the same lay out at the one below this is. this makes it easyer for you the poster to read the review for instenc sum of my reders might want to know what I think of the art of a serten anime but not what I think of the story or music well since all my reviews are layed out like they are that reader can just skip down to that part. Now for you on youtube you can use the segmented review format to your advatig as well espesholy if your in the habet of editing your vids. all you need to do is record all the parts sepret and then cut them togeather. This is helpfull in more then one way first it alows you to take a barke and sound less winded from talking in your vids. It can also help you plan out the vid langth if you know how much time you have to work with and how much you have to cover if you record each segment sepret you can just do the math befor hand.

(review templet)
.intro
.story overview
.art/animation
.music
.voice work
.final thoughts

So yea I hope I helped sum of you in your queast into becoming reviewers and if you rely dont care about reviewing I hope you show this to sumone who is well till nets time bye
