OtakuNick revirews: Soukyuu no Fafner: Dead Aggressor

Hey guys like I sed I hadf a review in the works for you so hear it is Soukyuu no Fafner: Dead Aggressor was a anime that came out in 2004 almost 9 years. It was produced by  Xebec the same company that brought us Nadesico. But dont let that fool you this anime is anything but the fun wacky antic's that we saw in nadesico this show is 100% mecha drama. so without any ferther to do hears the brack down.

The storty starts on Tatsumiyajima witch is the central island in the middle of a small cluster of islands, in a sleepy backwater of the Japanese isles. Not much happens there, and the island's young people go to school knowing that their lives are likely to remain peaceful and undisturbed. Or so they have been taught... but the truth is different. The fate of mankind is on the line, and Tatsumiyajima is the last line of defense against a hostile and incomprehensible enemy. At the center of it all, fighting for Humanity's continued existence, is the giant robot Fafner, the dragon that guards this final treasure of mankind. Okay with a synopsis like that your probly thinking whats the big deal its just like so many other mecha anime. well dont let this little paragraph miss leed you thare is way more to the story then this synopsis is letting on. as for what that is well you will just need to watch to find out.

Next on my list is the art and animation so first thing first I whant to get one thing out of the way yes this animes Character Designer is non other then Hirai, Hisashi thr same man that did the Character Design for Gundam Seed. but befor all you seed heaters click off this page he also did the Character Design for Kurogane no Linebarrels, Mugen no Ryvius, and Scryed all of witch I cunsiter must watcxh anime. so just because the art reminds one of one anime you dont like dosint meen you shouldint give it a shot. Becasue in this case going with Hirai for this anime was probly the best chose. thare are serten thing he dos best and oldly enuph that is facial expressions shore all his faces in the shows he dos look simaler but that is to make it easyer for them to convay serten  expressions. so what Im saying is just give the art a chance you may just like it.

But if you whant sumthing to rely lach onto it is the music this show is home to one of my all time favret OST and we have a Mr Saito, Tsuneyoshi to thank for it sum of you older fans may remember his name as he also did the OST for 2 of the Tenchi Muyo! movies namly Tenchi Muyo! Manatsu no Eve and Tenchi Muyo! in Love 2: Haruka Naru Omoi witch out of all the tenchi muyo anima have the best music.  Saito, Tsuneyoshi and his teem whent all the way to Europe to record using a real orchestra and let me just say this music will probly hit you harder then any visual seen in this show.

Now with all this good thare is sum bad atlest when it come to the ENG dub. you see I have yet to watch this show in Japaneses so all I have to go on with my revew is the ENG dub and it is standered afare for its time the anime came out hear in the US around 2006 If I am remembering corectly and lets face it the state of most dug wheret varry good then. So all i can say is if you plane on getting this anime you may whant to try out the Japanese dug first

I know I normaly close thing out right about hear but befor that i have one more thing I need to talk about and that is the Blu-ray Up scalling of this anime. You see the reson I am even reviwing this anime at this point and time is because I resently got the DVD/blu-ray combo pack of the anime and let me just say this is what a Up scall should look like. Unlike Gundam seeds upscall that just look lazy and slopy this one acholy looks clean just like it did when it first aird witch is the point. So all in all I say this blu-ray relese is worth the money and would make a fine addtion to anime mecha anime fans collection.

So you want to be a Anime reviewer

Hey guys OtakuNick hear this time I am not hear for news or even a review tho dont worry I do have a review coming in the next 3 days or so. No I hear today to talk to all you would be anime reviewers you see recently I watched a few reviews of sum anime on youtube from a PhDmanchild . Now mind you I am not a pro reviewer I dont get payed to do this even with the ads on my site I only make like 50cet a month or so. But I try to conduct my self as if this was my job I.E I take time and research the subject to give you guys a good review. But all I could think of when watching PhDmanchilds reviews where dos he even review this stuff.

So with that I have desied to post sum tips to all you would be reviewers. first things first take your time and do your researc. If you dont research what your reviewing then your review will not be as good. Now Im not saying you need to know everything thar is to know about all the stuff you review but knowing  when it was made and witch company makes it will help.

Next up take your time I see so many new reviewers try to cram what should be a ten minutes review into 2 maybe 3 minutes on youtube or summarize everything in one paragraph. Its not a race people you have 15 minutes on youtube and for you posting on blogs and websites unless they say other whys your post can be a long as you want tho keep it withing reson no one wants to read a wall of text.

And last thing to try is to review in segments I tend to brake my reviews into parts. For thows that red my blog a lot you have probably already notes my reviews fallow the same lay out at the one below this is. this makes it easyer for you the poster to read the review for instenc sum of my reders might want to know what I think of the art of a serten anime but not what I think of the story or music well since all my reviews are layed out like they are that reader can just skip down to that part. Now for you on youtube you can use the segmented review format to your advatig as well espesholy if your in the habet of editing your vids. all you need to do is record all the parts sepret and then cut them togeather. This is helpfull in more then one way first it alows you to take a barke and sound less winded from talking in your vids. It can also help you plan out the vid langth if you know how much time you have to work with and how much you have to cover if you record each segment sepret you can just do the math befor hand.

(review templet)
.intro
.story overview
.art/animation
.music
.voice work
.final thoughts

So yea I hope I helped sum of you in your queast into becoming reviewers and if you rely dont care about reviewing I hope you show this to sumone who is well till nets time bye

OtakuNick reviews Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai!

Okay guys its the first review of the most resent season. And let me just say this is a cuntender for my beast anime of the season. it has its ups and downs like anime but what kyotoanimation did with the last EP just knocked this show right out of the park so without any ferther waiting lets get into the rundown.

Yuuta Togashi suffered from chuunibyou(8TH-Gradesyndrome) while he was in middle school. When he graduated, he put that dark history behind him and forgot about it... or he was supposed to. High school was smooth sailing and full of enjoyment—until the unavoidable, sad event occurs. The event that locks Yuuta into a contract with Rikka Takanashi and disrupts his desperately ordinary life. I know what your thinking this is just another slice of life anime from kyoani much like K-On but trust me this is anything but K-On aside from the visuals.

And speeking of the visuals just to get this out of the way yes Chuunibyou and K-On have the same Character Designer Ikeda, Kazumi but you know what other anime Ikeda, Kazumi did the Character Design for? No well let me tell you  Ikeda, Kazumi is the Character Designer for KEYs own Clannad and Clannad After story another anime that tuged at my heart. so needless to say yes i think the art is good its not great I would have liked it if he whent more twords the clannad dedign rather then the K-On ones but over all everything looks good.

Now then lets talk music Chuunibyou has a farly good original sound track nothing to wright home about but its better then alot of stuff that comes out in this day and age. So Id say its a above avrig OST. I probly whont be going to look for the soundtrack like I will be for say JOJOs OST but if I come acrose it Id probly pick it up. but thars are two tracks that I absalutly long and yes they are the OP and ENDing tracks I dont know why I just love them.

Okay now this is the part of the review I rely could not wait to get to the the voice work. the voice work in  Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai! is probly the best Iv seen come from kyotoanimation in years evry line is hits it mark when they what funny they get funn when they need depresiing they hit the nail on thehead. And more over you can rely just tell they Voice Actors where having a plast with this anime.

Over all Im sad that this show ended it was so great for a 12 Ep anime it just makes me whonder what they could have done with 24. so yes this is a must watch

otakunick reviews Abenobashi Mahou Shoutengai (Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi)

Hey guys otaku nick hear with a new review today its Abenobashi Mahou Shoutengai or as its beter known hear in the US Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi. Now befor we get to the brake down let me just say I love this show back when I was in middle school my lintier week revolved around getting home and looking thew OnDemands anime network for the new episode I loved this show. and it acholy was not till a year latter that I leered why I loved it so much you see this is a co-production by sum of my favret studios gainax and madhouse thats right the same two studios that respectivly gave us Evangelion and black lagoon worked to geather to make this show

the story is as fallows Imamiya Satoshi, "Sasshi" to his friends, has grown up in the Abenobashi Shopping Arcade in Osaka, along with his childhood friend, Asahina Arumi. Now, all that was stable in his life is in ruins. His family's bath house has closed and been torn down, and Arumi's family is moving to Hokkaido - and taking her with them. In the midst of all this, something happens to the framework of reality, and Sasshi and Arumi slip into a weird parallel world. It's still Abenobashi, but not their Abenobashi. Strange things are afoot, and Sasshi must find out their meaning, in order to reach a goal that he barely understands. Now then I know this dosint sound as good as Im makeing it out to be but trust me when I say that this story is good in fact Id say the energy of this show is more akin to gainaxes FLCL that aird one year erlyer

the are is well prbly the weekest part of the show dot get me wrong for the most part the art could stand up to anything that came out this year but I can only say that because I am a fan on the lat 90s and early 2000s art styles but I do get that the mix of realistic  traits and exaggerated ones in anime has long fallen out of favor its normally one or the other now a days but for this show and all the weird stuff that happens it rely good to have a mix of the two

music is your standard affair for a comedy for its time up beet and energetic but one this still pops into my head all the time when thinking of this show and that its opening this was the first anime I watch witch had a oping that didint just souns like it was made for the show but was a song in and of it self witch for me up to that time was unheard of please note back then I was manly watching anime from the 60s and 70s so most ops where in fact made for the shows and even the 90s anime had yet to rely brake that habit.

Now for the voice work I know this is probly going to get me plenty of flack but I am a big fan of the ENG dub of this show. I have watched in both English and Japanese but I thing the ENG dub just has a bit more to offer in the comedy department. But both versions are good I myself just like the ENG version more.

But yea over all i say give this one a look for its time it was funny as hell. Tho I will admite that the jokes may fall flate in this day and age but I rely dont care as no mater how many time i wath this show I allways find sumthing to laugh at.

OtakuNick reviews kokoro connect

Hey guys otakunick hear befor I get to the review I would like to point out the ads yes I have found other ad revenue services other then google. So if you can spare sum time please click on one or two every now and then to help me out. If enuph of you do this on a daly dases i could acholy make this blog my full time job witch truth be told would be great but thats rely just a pipe dream. also please let me know what you think of the news storys and just what storys i should keep my eye out for as I sift thew hundreds of them a day so if you let me know what you whant to see Il know what to look for.

Anyway to the review kokoro connect first aired in japan last summer but thanks to a story synopsis that truth be told sucked I over looked it. In fact if not for my good friend cloudsora (co host of the podcast yes thats still alive just hard to get everyone togeather) I would have never even picked the show up. But Il say this now I am so happy my friend watched it then tell me it was good because that is just it this show is rely good.

The story fallows five members of a schools Cultural Research Club - Taichi Yaegashi, Iori Nagase, Himeko Inaba, Yui Kiriyama, and Yoshifumi Aoki  who encounter a bizarre phenomenon one day when Aoki and Yui switch bodies without warning. The same begins to happen to the other club members, throwing their daily lives into disarray.

the first think youl probly notes in the anime is the art the Character Design and for good reson. you see the Character Design for kokoro connect was also done by the same person that did the Character Design for K-on a one Horiguchi, Yukiko and Id like to remind everyone she also did the Character Design for one of my personnel favrets lucky star. so yea the arts nice

Now you all know Im not one to rely dewll on music and Im not going to sit hear and type on about sumthing that is so completly subjectiv that reviewing it rely seems poitless. But I liked the sound track it did its job portraing the mood of each seen and wasint to intrusiv seeing as this is a show whare youd rather hear the charters talk rather then the music is a good thing.

And speeking of hearing the charters talk I must now talk about just how great of a job the voice cast did on this not only did they get into there own charters but when playing other charters there pulled it off perfectly. And truth be told I do not see any ENG dub cast being able to pull this off. Dont get me wrong I dont heat dubs but in the resent years the number of good dubs are far out shined by the number of bad ones. So when and if this show comes to the US I hope the person in charge of casting rely stops and thinks about this as casting a good voice crew will ether make or brake this show.

but over all I have to say I am a fan of kokoro connect its got good art a good OST and a great voice cast to sport interesting the insightful story.

otakunick retro reviews (rahxephon)

hey guys i know i am a day late but i have a good reason for it i recently got the DVD box set of the rahxephon anime series and i wanted top do a retro review on it since its nerly 10 years old (tho you would not be able to tell just by looking at the animation) so without further adue lets get started oh and be wornd thare will be spoilers

now then since i got the DVD box set that alredy probly tells you wether or not i think this show is worth buying but lety me say it ether way this is a anime i think everyone should watch at one pont in time just like evangelion infact evangelion and rahxephone are often compared due to thare simalaratys bolth of them are shows that deal with mechas that become god and change the world granted in rahxephone this change is for the best and in eva its just a apocaleps but whatever

i gess you guys want a brake down well lets start with the story In the year 2012 Japan was invaded by the Mu. Human-like beings from another dimension with blue blood.

In the year 2015 Tokyo is attacked by invaders, who are repelled by a humanoid weapon called a Dolem. During the chaos, Ayato Kamina meets Reika Mishima, a classmate.

During that same day, he is attacked by government officials but a woman named Haruka comes to his rescue, informing him that she was sent to get him by the Organization TERRA, and that Tokyo had been sealed in a time rift where time flows one third as fast as the outside world.

He flees from Haruka onto a train where he sees Reika once more. Arriving at the Room of Rah, he follows her to a tremendous egg where the Dolem RahXephon is hatched from, and upon her singing his mother appears atop the Dolem that had stopped the TERRA Invasion. In the battle Ayato's mother is injured, and Ayato flees Tokyo Jupiter with Haruka upon seeing his mother's blue blood a good way to draw people in if i do say so myself above all els you should watch a show for the story and rahxepons story dos a great job pulling you in and holding you tight right up to the end

and the OST is also sum thing that shines in this anime but with so many musical references it damn well better be great i can say aside from from one or two other series thare is almost no anime i wach the OP and end songs for on each ep but in rahxephon i cant help but do so they are among my top anime op and endings

up next the art if you remember in my first paragraph i menchened you would not be able to tell this was nearly 10 years old thats because it looks that good if i did not know any better i say it was made in 2007 or 2008 not 2002 back in 2002 the anime industry was still just steeping into using computers cell animation it was more likely to see stuff like excele saga with vary in your face coloring compared to rahxephones more pastel color palet not to menchon the fact that I found it hard to find any drop in animation quality witch for a 2002 anime of 26 ep is hard to do hell even 12 ep anime for this season have a drop in quality every now and then so yea this os one good looking anime

as for the voice work i will admite i have never wached this anime in its original Japanese dub back when i first watched this on the anime network it was in ENG and apon my re-watche nerly 7 years latter i still whent straight for the eng dub not because i was lazy but because for this to be a proper retro review i needed to watch it in the same dun i first wached it in so see how it stands up to time and i have to say this dub is one thats still good defiantly one of the best dubs to come from ADV (tho there dubs were ushaly good to begin with)and compared to todays dubs its like music to my ears (yes I just did use a music reference to discrib a dub from a anime that uses music turmanolagy almost every fucking ep)

so over all i have to say go out and get this anime you can still find the box set with a bit of diging and it will make a great addition to any anime collection

otakunick anime reviews (blue drop)

hey guys first off sorry for being so late on the posting my new job has me running around like a mad man and iv had barly anuph energy left in me at the end of the day to take a shower and eat let alone get on hear and type out a review but i am use to it now and will be back on schedule at lest with the blog the podcast is on hold for now just to mutch stuff going on in my life to get every one to geather and do sum thing but thats besides the point

now then recently i got netflix and iv been watching anime there and they acholy have a lot of good stuff most of witch i have seen but sum i have not and this anime is one of the ones i have not seen blue drop first off let me say this anime is not going to win any awards thow it is defiantly good

and the storys ware it gets most of its points In 1995, all 800 habitants of the isolated Kamikakushi Island vanished in one night, all but a single girl who lost her memory. The cause of the disappearances was never identified.

Four years later, that girl, Mari, transfers to a girl's dormitory school, Kaihou Gakuen, leaving behind her grandmother who had been her guardian ever since the incident. There, she meets Hagino.

Hagino is the school idol and completes her student council responsibilities flawlessly. The moment she touches Mari’s hand, however, Hagino freaks out, straddling atop Mari, hands aroundher throat. Mari is afraid of and angry at Hagino, who pretends as if nothing had happened while in front of other students, but at the same time, somehow, she is attracted to Hagino too.

[spoiler]
In reality, Hagino is actually an alien who was sent to Earth in order to reconnoiter prior to an invasion. The event on Kamikakushi Island occurred when the 200-member crew of a battleship, the Blue, whose captain was Hagino and the island's inhabitants had killed each other. The Blue was seriously damaged and hidden. Hagino had since blended into human society and continued her reconnaissance.
[spoiler]
Within her school life, while fighting with fellow students, Mari begins to come out of her shell. Hagino has been living a double life, but her encounter with Mari makes her face human beings, and gradually she begins to have doubts about her mission. While the invasion and war draws closer unnoticed, the girls begin to understand each other.

the art is ware the show gets the rest of the points with a nice mix of CG and draw cells the show rely dose a great job of showing just what it is it whant to show tho thar are sum time whar the CG stick out

as for the OST thar is almost none to speak of but when ever music did play it wasint bad a bit bland but over all fitting unlike the dub i have to say if netflix had the option to watch anime in japanses with subs id change blue drop over as fast as my fingers cud press the buttons but gess that fact that i finishes the show in the ENG dub is a testament to the story

over all i have to say give the show chans but id sagest looking for the DVDs so you can change it over to to japanese dub but regardless id give this show a watch

otakunicks retro reviews

hey guys and welcome to the first of what will be many reviews of old anime the reason i have decided to make a full on series like this is because i do a lot of reviews of older anime that predate 2000 so i figured hey why not make reviewing old anime witch happen to be a Favorite of mine not to mention i all ready have a massive finished list of old anime i can run thew that is all was growing so without further a due hears a anime from the 90s that i just finished yesterday called Silent Mobius

Silent Mobius started off as a manga witch was published in 1991 and ran to completion in 2003 witch was written by Kia Asamiy who also was the Original Creator of another one of my favoritenadesico the manga was adapted into a anime in 1998 and was directed by Hideki Tonokatsu who also worked on Sousei no Aquarion

now the story rely dos not seem like much when put into a synopsis but when played out it rely draws you in and hold on The year is 2023 and Alien Beings known as "Lucifer Hawks" have begun invading earth from another dimension. All that stands between them and the enslavement of the human race is the Attacked Mystification Police Department - a special division of the Tokyo Police staffed by women with amazing paranormal abilities.

the art is what iv come to now and love from asamiys work tho a lot of people seem to have a problem with it gess i am just strange but i don't think there is a anime fan that would not appreciate the music in this anime like a lot anime from the 90s to make up for lac in animation budget they rely made music that worked great with the seen and the mood of the show the op of silent mobius has acholy quickly became one of my favorite anime ops from the 90s

so with all the good i have been saying your probably thinking that there is nothing bad with this anime well thats not rely true there are a couple problems with the anime one being a bad ending its not the story's fault or anything like that its just that when the anime ends your left with the feeling that you just know there is more to the story witch is sum thing that seems to be the problem with all of the anime that are made from asamiy's work just like nadesico i am shore the staff was hopping on a second season but never got the green light for it levering this anime with a blatantly unfinished story witch hurts it a bit and of corse there are sum miner animation problems but thats to be expected with a anime from the 90's even the greats like cowboy bebop had thows problems from time to time so i don't rely hold silent mobius at fault for them

with that aside i must say this is a must see for fans of asamiy's works and a solid recantation to any fan of anime its a great story with a cool cast nice art and music that would be a great addition to anyones collection

Breaking the Ice

Alright, coming up with an anime to review was a huge pain in the ass. I thouhgt maybe id do FLCL, then realized that would be a short review, FLCL fucking epic, 'nough said. Then i thought maybe id do a review for something like one of the big3, that went out in a bloody pirate dopple ganger sword fight in a orange jump suit. Maybe, i thought, ill do it on something random that i think no ones ever seen. After scrolling through (insert name of thing you worship here) only knows how many pages of anime titles and seeing nothing that looked interesting, i realized i should just do it on some anime i remember watching on adult swim.

Tactics is an upbeat supernatural suspense mystery with a hint of comdey thrown in, anime that provides a nice break from the miserable, downtroddin, death, woe filled animes that usually get the supernatural suspense tag. So anyway our 6th sense gifted writer lead character, Kantaro, journeys all over Japan exorcising demons with his pals, Haruka, the strongest orge eating goblin, Yohko, the begrudging fox spirit forced to serve Kantaro, and the little naive Suzu. And all the other characters that come and go through out the series.

All those negatives aside i enjoyed this quirky little shoujo-ish anime. Almost all the characters are interesting on some level and many are multi-dimensional in their characteristics. Which is important because the whole series is driven by mini character arcs and a lot of focus is put on them. But the down side to this is theres very little depth to these mini-arcs and leaves you wanting a little more. The key characters are pretty simple on the surface, filling their roles well; Yohko is the pretty girl who wants to live a pampered life, Suzu only follows the group around so she can be with Haruka, and Sugino, the weird white goblin, and his wife, Muu-chan (a strange green thing that looks like Ty got high and decided to make something while in that state). Kantaro is just like Sora. Hes one of those overly nice do-gooders that at some points you just want to crawl through the screen and smack some sense into him, but he plays a good counter balance for the always brooding Hakaru.

Yes, theres a shoujo element in there. But dont worry its not one of those crazy "younger guy + older guy + attraction = creepy, awkward character dynamics" sort thing. Kantaro does feel an attraction towards his goblin friend but only hints at it subliminally and Haruka recieves these with blatant disreguard or disinterest.

The art used for the scenery is well done. Its more like watching a scrolling painting of a beautiful field or sundappled forest floor or even a moonlit landscape of night. This is all well and good but the character art just seems tp pale in comparison. They are sharply defined and seem somewhat out of place surrounded by the scenery. Any how thats an acceptable fault as theres very little to no action and the series isnt really about the action. The only real action we get is in the fight squence at the end of each episode (which is kinda like watching the exorcist if the priest had buddist beads, chanted montras and his help shot red lightning out of a golden stick thingy). These "fights" never last long as the focus of the episodes seems to be introducing the characters and the conflict.

The opening and closing themes are good, in my opinion and the opening is very appropriate for the series. Its a song about searching for a secret world, now doesnt that sound like the perfect kinda thing for this series? The music in the show itself is a little bland i think, but hey who really ever pays enough attention to realize what kinda backgorund music is playing.

P.S. If theres a yaoi booth at anime boston ill be doing a report on it. but im a guy who enjoys the dying screams of babies and the visual thoughts of bathing in womens tears (not really) so i have no clue what to report on it. So if the readers could be so kind as to put what you want to know in a comment, id really appreciate that.

Ninjas. Damn...

Ninjas make everything better. It's a proven scientific fact. Whether it be dinner with the in-laws, church, political debates, or lack-luster blogs the addition of Ninjas can improve the enjoyment level by over 9000%. That said, movies that have Ninjas in them tend to be rather enjoyable for action fans all over. The most recent addition to the Ninja movie universe is The Warrior's Way directed and written by Sngmoo Lee (Don't ask me to pronounce it).

Before I get into it, yes I realize this is not the Gunpla review I promised back in oh..say, June. I've decided to finish up the current models I have now before I start taking pictures of them and such for the reviews. It might be a bit longer till they appear but I have not forgotten about them.

ANYWAYS! The Warrior's Way is actually billed as a "Western" genre movie. I find that hilarious because seeing Katanas swinging and Ninjas jumping all over the place in a genre that is usually filled with cliff-top stake outs and gunfights with Ind-...Native Americans...is completely new to me. And come on, who didn't ever wonder what would happen if Cowboys fought Ninjas?

The movie starts out in what I assume is Japan though it's never confirmed (it's definitely Japan, why would it be anywhere else?). A narration explains the origins of "The Warrior" as I've dubbed him and his life goal of being "The greatest swordsman who ever lived. Ever." Yes, the second ever appears right below the title as it appears on-screen. The opening fight is between The Warrior and the rival clan to his to which The Warrior defeats in a very anime-like "super fast one slice that's an instakill" fashion. He comes across the final living member of the rival clan...a baby girl. At that point The Warrior has a change of heart and not only spared the life of but "adopts" the baby girl. Clearly disobeying his orders and now a wanted man, he flees Japan and heads to America.

Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, WHOA! Hold up! Ninjas didn't exist anymore when America was around! Especially since this movie seems to take place in the 1800s! Yes, that is true. I didn't mention this earlier but if your looking for historical or realistic accuracy then your looking at the wrong movie. It's only a fictional, fantasy story with no intention of being "accurate". But that's OK with me! Back to the plot.

After settling down to a new peaceful life in a ghost town with a population filled of circus rejects, The Warriors past soon catches up to him. After already defending the town from a rouge platoon of outlaws, The Warriors old clan tracks him down to the ghost town and draws their swords against The Warrior, the baby girl, and just about everyone else in the town.

Yeah! That's all I'm gonna say about the plot! I'm not actually gonna spoil all the good stuff! But there definitely is some good stuff in this movie. First off, the action. It's everything you'd expect from sword fights to gunfights and every combination of the two that can be made in the 1800s. And nothing is spared in the deaths of people. At one point an outlaw holding a machine gun gets his hands chopped off and the gun continues to fire while turning around and killing everyone standing next to the outlaw. An awesome amount of gore is present but its not COMPLETELY over the top. Hey, if someones gonna get hacked up by a katana, its gonna be messy, and this movie shows that. Special effects wise its certainly no Avatar. Most of the explosions are clearly CGI and the whole movie seemed to be filmed on green screens and sets which gives it this artsy looking but slightly unbelievable atmosphere. In its defense though, it's a refreshing change from the super-gritty realism of most action movies nowadays.

But this movie isn't all straight action. To be honest, the action doesn't even start till about 2/3 through the movie. The rest of the movie is the psudo-love story between The Warrior and a woman living in the town called Lynne. Is it boring? Yeah, to a degree. But it's filled with little bits of small humor so you don't fall asleep.XD Dong-gun Jang, who plays The Warrior gives off a very serious Jackie Chan feel to the character. Through very few lines he made The Warrior a likable character and couldn't wait to see him kick ass every time he grabbed a blade. Although not pushed in the commercials for the movie, there was one actor who really caught my eye. That would be none other than Kate Bosworth. In the words of the great Scooter: "SMOKIN JESUS TITTY CINNAMON" is she GORGEOUS! And even more so as a red head! She ends up being the psudo-lover/apprentice to The Warrior as he teaches her how to use the sword. Which comes in handy at the end of the movie.

In the end, there's nothing super spectacular about The Warrior's Way(Except for a red-headed Kate Bosworth in a corset ^_^). But it should not be dismissed as just another Ninja movie. There is a anime like feel to it all and a great presentation of action. Don't see this movie for the acting, or the story, or any of that. But if you need a movie that is just absolute chaos with cowboys and Ninjas, check it out!

Well, it's not TOO bad for a first movie review...I'd like to see someone else try to do it...I look forward to your letters :) Until next time...see you starside.

And now for something completely different...

At this point your thinking: "Nick going on a hiatus!? Something Completely different!? Won't do any good!? Heard it before!? 11 times!?! (lol spongebob)

But before you go and double-check if your on Otaku Home allow me to assure you that you indeed are at Nick's Otaku Home Blog.

But where are my manners? Greetings to you! From the loyal followers to the "I accidentally found this place, lol what is it?" allow me to introduce myself. I am Aareate..or erm "Rich" if that is too hard to pronounce. It really isn't though, think of "R-8" and say that out loud or imagine someone with a Boston accent saying "R-8" which makes more sense seeing that I am from the Boston area.

But I digress...
Now at this point your probably wondering: "Who the hell is this smuck?"

Wellllll, I'm a good friend of Nick and went to high school with him. And I've been asked to help contribute to his blog (read: asked a looong time ago and only now doing a first post). Now I've never done anything like a blog before and I'm not as savvy in the Anime Industry as my other blog-mates here. And seeing that I'd rather not just copypasta news stories from other sites here I figured I'd do what I know I can do. Review Gunpla Models!!!

I've got quite the reputation among my friends every Anime Boston to go and buy a ton of Gundam models and blow hundreds upon hundreds every year. So within the next few weeks (read: the next time im at my fathers :) ) I'll begin putting up reviews for my Gundam Model collection. I'll have many pictures showing the models in poses and such and give opinions about parts that gave me a headache and things i like about the models.
So stay tuned for more posts by me starting with a review of the 2 Pack 1/144 HGUC Char Azbable Rick Dom and G-3 Gundam!!!

K-on live house OVA

well evryone I just finished watchig the new k-on OVA properly named live house and what can I say I liked it I know I havint dune a proper k-on review but I figerd with season 2 on its way Il get that in with the first thouts on season 2 so itl be a 2 in one review but for now lets just consentrat on this review

the first thing that cout my eye was this OVA dus not have its own OP or ending them it barows the second haff OP from season one as well as the ending theme on its own thats not that bad to have sum familer music but sadly this OVA suffers in the music department dont get e wrong I love k-ons music hell its one of the only musivc based anime I like but I wood have liked to hear atlest one new song but sadly thats wasint in the cards for this anime so I have to take this nagativ into my desistion later on

dispite not adding anything new in the sound department this OVA was just as injoyabol to watch as season one yui is still a cute idot mio is still shy when it comes to praforing mugi is still her ushawell rich girl self same with richan shes still hyperactiv and asunyan is still the cuteist mix of mio and yui witch i absalutly love thow you see mor mio in her in the OVA then yui

and know on to the story it seems to bick up arownd the end of Xmass and right befor newyars and the girls are invited to to a live show in this locole undergownd music club and ofcors mio whated to refuse but was cunvins to go by the others and well thars not mutch after that they just get reddy to play then play like one wood exspec but thats not the pont of the ova thew out the intier thing I notesed that the girls wer admiering how serus the other bands wer abowt playing so I belive this OVA was less abowt seeing the girls befor season 2 starts and more abowt seting them up to be more sereus abowt the band(well as serus as thows girls can get) witch I like to see thows that now me now I wasint the most thrild the way the second haff of season 1 whent (its was pretty mutch the same as the first haff but with a new girl) so Im relly glade the OVA is acholy seting the girls up to make sum progress over all I give k-on live house 8 loli band girls out of 10

First Thoughts on Hanamaru Kindergarten

Honestly I did not expect to watch this show but while I was going through all the subbers comparing the quality of subs for each show this was one of those ones who only had on sub so I decided "Oh, what the hell, I'll just download this and watch it in between torrents." You can download Horriblesubs sub its pretty good honestly despite there name, Hanamaru Kindergarten (Hanamaru Youchien). Alright onto the actual review!
So it starts with the very basic "oh no the main character woke up late!" theme which is really overused but whatever. On the way to school he meets this little girl who was noticeably going to be the main character and from there it took the cute route. Seeing as I doubt you know this the Cute route is the way to make me love a show if you have cute characters doing uniquely cute things I'm going to at least like it but this show does it a bit better. The cast consists of
Tsuchida "Tsuchi" who is the teacher and main character I personally like his VA. Then there is Anzu she's the cute, energetic, and teach obsessed character her VA is good as well. There are Anzu's two Friends as well Koume who is cute, quite, and a kind of cry baby and from what I've seen of her VA i like her. Anzu's other friend is Hiiragi "Hii" she is the seemingly emotionless friend her VA is very good. The additional cast is are the other teachers Yamamoto, Kusano (my personal favorite adult so far), Kawashiro, and the Director other than that there is the Mother of Anzu who's name is Sakura the VA cast for secondary and supporting characters is pretty good as well.
The Art in Hanamaru Kindergarten is a pretty distinctive style it's a childish kind of shounen to the characters but everything else has this sort of light shoujo feel. The character's movements are smooth and detailed and facial expressions are very detailed... with the exception of Hii. There is one flaw though... scaling, the kindergartner's aren't even knee height to the adults... I don't know about you but my baby cousin is not 6 months old and he's roughly that big (roughly).
The sounds are pretty good they make it feel real by not exaggerating noises that people or things make so they are good. The music is good the bgm is good inside of the anime but it would be really bland outside of it because its supposed to be calm. The Ending is all that played and that was pretty good but once again not outside of it but this time because it sounds like little kids are singing it the animation for the ending is ok although weird.
Other than that I don't know what else to say besides I'm going to continue watching it because its funny, cute and slice of life and I'm kind of in the mood for that right now. 10/10(13 I'll explain my rating scale later)
P.S. The art after the ending and preview is what I posted with this review
If you liked Minami-ke and/or Kodomo no Jikan you'll probably like this because its like a combination of the two + a little Haruhi for the characters.
