Tokyo Anime Fair having hard times

Earlier today, it was revealed that Tokyo Anime Fair attendance will drop by 37% this year, resulting in 20% less overall space being rented. In English, this means that 153 exhibitors are renting 491 spots, as opposed to last year’s 244 exhibitors’ renting of 615 booths. The majority of the space difference comes from 25 companies cancelling 117 spaces in response to Bill 156 (Tokyo’s Youth Protection Ordinance). Ten of the 25 cancelling companies include the entirety of the Comic 10-Shakai publishers.

Anybody who didn’t expect this bill to make waves in the industry is either naiive, or clueless about business. The bill’s hurting the status quo, and it absolutely does mean changes for the greater industry. The monetary loss of 110 million yen is going to be a sting that will be felt, both by the event and by the city proper. The absence of heavy hitters like Aniplex and Media Factory will be noticed by many fans. Still, despite the setbacks, it appears that the TAF will still be a spectacle, and we’ll see numerous diplays and announcements come from it, like we do every year.

The group’s rebuttal event, the Anime Contents Expo (ACE), will actually be more interesting to see, since it’s a total unknown. The event only lists ten exhibitors, but they include some of the larger names in anime, including Aniplex, Marvelous, and Geneon. If the group is insistent on driving a point home, then I have no doubt that we’ll see some heavy-hitters, some major reveals coming out of this event.

For the record, the current exhibitors at the ACE will be

While Bill 156 won’t exactly be a great thing for anime fans or the industry, it certainly is already bearing some fascinating, even exciting results. I can’t help but wonder just what else will come out of the bill’s passage… be the news good or bad.

4c finally releases art for new thunder cats

Yesterday, Ain’t it Cool revealed some new art from Studio 4°C’s adaptation of Thundercats. The fact that the series is being creative isn’t exactly new – a few outlets reported on it in mid-2010. However, this appears to be the first time that actual art for the show has surfaced. MTV’s 2010 story on the series reveals that the show will be produced by some of the more accomplished industry figures from the past decade. If MTV’s story is correct, Sam Register (Teen Titans, Transformers: Animated) will fill the show’s executive producer, while Michael Jelenic (The Simpsons (1988-1989), Wonder Woman) and Ethan Spaulding (Avatar: The Last Airbender) will share the role of Producer. In addition, this isn’t the first co-production that 4°C performed for Warner – they also did work on segments for Batman: Gotham Knight and Halo Legends.

i for one like the new look to the thunder cats and this is comeing from a guy who love the old ones too panthro looks mensing and liono looks looks young like he should so what do you guys think

Funi rely stepping it up

big news on the war on cyber pirating

The North American anime distributor Funimation filed a copyright infringement complaint against 1,337 “John Does” over the 481st episode of the One Piece television anime on Monday. According to the suit filed in the Northern District of Texas, the unidentified defendants “collectively participated, via the Internet, in the unlawful reproduction and distribution” of the episode “Ace Rescued! Whitebeard’s Final Order!” via the BitTorrent file-sharing protocol. The suit lists defendants by their host IP (Internet Protocol) addresses and Internet service provider. The alleged incidents of copyright infringement took place between January 9 and January 12.

The lawsuit identifies three of the sites where the defendants allegedly found the BitTorrent reference descriptor files for the One Piece episode. The suit also notes that users in a BitTorrent “swarm,” by the inherent nature of the technology, are simultaneously downloading parts of the file and distributing parts of it to others. Funimation believes that the identities of the current 1,337 defendants and “additional infringing parties” will be revealed during the pre-trial discovery phase of the lawsuit, and it will then amend the suit to include their names.

Funimation asks the court to stop the defendants from infringing on Funimation’s copyrights for this episode and any other videos now or in the future. If another request in the suit is granted, defendants “shall destroy all copies of Plaintiff’s [videos] that Defendant has downloaded onto any computer hard drive or server without Plaintiff’s authorization and shall destroy all copies of those downloaded [videos] transferred onto any physical medium or device in each Defendant’s possession, custody, or control.” Funimation also seeks compensation for damages and legal costs.

now when i first found this out all i cud think was wow this guys don't know how to use proxys but then i thought this is probably funis way of tiring to make shore they don't suffer another Fractale insadent and i have to give it to funi for taking steps agenst piracy (is that kinda ironic that i sed that lol) well anime what do all you think

Duke Nukem Forever and FFXII-2 Trailers

okay hers the deal iv got two trailers hear one if for a game i thought would never come out and one is a game i prayed would never come out

first off is the Duke Nukem Forever trailer i have to say the game play not that impressive but if your gana buy or rent Duke Nukem Forever for the game play your probly not the brightest blob in the bunch but the trailer did inpress me not becuse it made the game look better then its going to be be(tho it probably did do that) but because it poks fun at the game it self and thats the reson to play Duke Nukem to laugh wall playing it and it is for that reason that we have waited for more then 12 fucking years for this game

and the second game trailer is for ff XII-2 now i am not saying ff XII was a bad(thow one of my co hosts would) game so any sequel will be bad i liked the story of FF XII granted the game plat was not the best but i did like the story the reason i never wanted to see a direct sequel to this game is because direct sequels and FF do not mix look at FF X-2 the original FF X was rely good just like XII but X-2 sucked so bad that i cud not for the life of me finish it and i am afreid that that will happen to XII-2

Durarara!! English Dub Highlights and legal Fractale streaming shut down?

hey guys got two story's for you today first off Aniplex just recently put up a vid showcasing sum of there dub highlights for the upcoming Durarara!!! ENG dub now i know i am not rely one for ENG dubs but even i can tell when a animes going to have a good or a bad dub and i have to say tho i was not impressed by the dub i have to say it is by no means a bad dub it is dos not but thats just my opinion hears the vid watch it and let me know what you think

and the second would happen to be that one the production company that makes the new anime Fractale has told its US license holder FUNimationso stop simulcasting for what reason would they have to do that you ask well i will tell you

Fractale was premiered on legal streaming last week. The law of the internet kicked in, and the series was pirated and fansubbed. The Fractale Production Committee requested that FUNimation to halt simulcasting of the series until all illegal streams are wiped from the internet.

know when i heard this i rely cud not help but laugh my ass off over how stupid the company was because stopping the legal streaming will not stop the illegal one in fact they just gave people more of a reason to go to illegal channels to get the latest ep of fractale by remove there only legal alternative this was a real bone head move but the producers and i expect them to rectify there stupidity Farly soon

new release formate for Eden of the est and ga rei zero

Over the past few days, Eden of the East: King of Eden and Ga-Rei-Zero both received changes to their release formats. Instead of the standard DVD and Blu-Ray releases, the titles will be released in combination packs.

this is not sum thing you see all to often in anime in Live action movies yea you see it all the time but not rely in anime i for one think this is a good idea it allows the people who have made the switch to BRD(blue ray disc) and the ones who haven't both get the seres but at the same time

how ever i cant help but think this release will be massively expansive compared to a standard release of ether BRD or DVD by them selfs but ether way i am looking forward to this because as of right now i haven't made the switch to BRD but i do intend to do so because more and more anime BRD have ENG subs already in them yea they may not be the best looking but there better then nothing

so what i am string to say is if you can go out and buy these releases when thy come out i know i will be

beginners guide to buying anime part 1(where and how to buy)

hey guys it me otaku nick and this post i will be talking a detour from my normal reviews in order to post sum thing that will help the new fans to anime among otaku homes readers this seres of posts will be made in between my normal posts and will focus on helping the new fan learn what anime are good ideas to buy and what ones are better left alone as well as give you tips on when and where to buy anime at great deals

so lets get started first off do not trust best buy to have a good selection of anime in the past 5 years iv seen the anime section in my local best buy dwindle from 3 isles to less then 5 cramped rows this will probable vary from store to store but your better off going to a store that deal in comics and or other subcultural like Newbury comics or sumthing along thows lines thay may not alwas have more but i can say from exsperic thay ushaly have better quolaty stuff and for much better prices

aside from chain stores look to your local comic shops thows at the varry list will have manga among other merch as well such as models figurs wall scrolls ECT amd if they dont thay may be willing to order them for you if you yourself dont know whar to find them online

speeking of buying online thar are plenty of stores to do that one online store i use all the time is rightstuff they offer great deals you if you know how to look for them in the bargen bin section you cud find anything in that from DVDs under 2$ to plushy

another place to buy is at conventions now this is where you need to be carfull it is extremely easy to go over Bord my first time at anime boston i blew 200$ on crap so hear are my 5 rules for buying at a con

1. make a shopping list this will help you know what you rely want to get and once you have that out of the way you are free to fined other stuff wall at the same time getting what you wanted

2. know your shopping days at a con you want just be spending all your time in the dears room in most cons the first two day are full of stuff to do and the last day is usually slow so use that to your advantage get the stuff on your list the first day and go back on the last day to see if you can find sum great deals

3. look all around the dealers room be for buying anything you may com across sum stuff on your list right off the bat don not buy it right away look around first you may find it cheaper

4. get the stuff that will sell out the quickest first and the slowest last stuff like animation cells sell like hot cakes and if your looking for stuff like that be shore thats what you get first because i can guarantee you they will not be there at the end of the day where as stuff like DVDs can be held off on due to the fact that they ushaly sell slower

5.remember food is just as in portent as merch if you want to buy sum thing but all you have left is food money you need to way your options id what you want to buy rely worth not eating

know is you fallow this tips you will be well on your way to knowing what, whare and how to buy anime and anime merch in the next part will will be giving you a run dwon on anime and manga i feel shod be in every anime fans colection and what ones shod be avowed like the black death

first thoughts on Yumekui Merry

hey guys its me otaku nick with another first thoughts on this time it will be on yumekui merry one of the better anime this season thow with the first two anime of the season i watched it dustint take mutch to be one of the better ones lol

first off like any other review of me the synopsis Ten years ago Fujiwara noticed he had a power to see multicolored auras surrounding the person's body witch are related to the type of dream that person will have that night. Ever since then he's been having a weird dream about a war with cats. One day he meets a mysterious girl, that, after falling from a tree after being picked on by crows, goes to search for her lost hat. Later that day, Fujiwara finds himself in a daydream, being attacked by the same cats he fights at night.

i have to say the synopsis may not sound all that intaresting but the atmosher the anime gives off is quite nice and there duse seem to be more to the story giveing you sumthing to figer out on your own

in trems of Character Design the art may not be anything ground brakeing but then again what is thees days wear as the back grounds are rely nice the almost water color like back grounds in the serres alows for the character art to pop and ir rely works well togeather and wall im on the topic the characters are rely fun the two main merry and Yumeji bolth have little things about them that make them fun to watch

the musice also is pretty fun to listion to the BGM duse have the problem of blending alittle to well thow as of right now i only can talk about the op and end themes so hopefully that will chang

over all i have to say this anime is worht picking up it may not be a master pice but its defanetly a goos anime so look forwerd to a full review when the serres ends

starting the new anime season off with a dubol header review

thats right guys today i will be doing two first thouts off the first of witch seems to be a reguler harem anime hiding behind a power suit sci-fi anime called infinite stratos or IS for short

the story is as folowed Japan engineered an armed powered exoskeleton "Infinite Stratos" (IS) and it became the mainstream of weapons. Since only women can operate IS, women dominate the society over men. Orimura Ichika is a 15 year old boy and accidentally touches an IS placed in the IS pilot training school. He is found to be the only man who can operate IS and forced to enter the training school. Ichika's busy school life surrounded by girls has begun.

as you can tell from the synopsis alone this anime was going to be a fan servus anime but thar isint mutch in the way of fan servus ether so i take it that leving that for later but thar is sumthing that bothers me big time as a mecha fan why is it that IS can only be piolted by wemon as a fully massed prodused mecha how is it that only femlaes can use them this is sumthing that hased been exsplend one bit its as if they exspect use to just go with it

the art isint that great ether its run of the mill for 2007 and not at all what i was exspecting from 8bt the guys that are makeing the macross F movies in my opinyon the only thing this anime has going for it so fare is that the CG looks good wait i cant even say that from the moment you look at the fight seens to can esaly figer out that thar useing GCI rather then frame by frame GC like in the rest of the show makeing a all to unwhanted contrast

but this is only the first ep il give this anime sum time to grow on me becuse i do have to say i like the 2 leads im holding off on giveing a score till later but untill that i say watch this at your own discration

next up is sumthing for the ladies and that wood be stary sky what can i say im a guy that likes a goos shojo now and then but so fare i cant say this is one of them

the story sets you up for a desint love story

The heroine, Tsukiko, enrolled to a school that was recently changed from all-boys school to co-ed. Since the area where the school is conveniently rural and the rather exclusive curriculums the school has, up until now the heroine is the only one female who enrolled to the school.

In Starry Sky, the 12 constellations of the Zodiac are personified into handsome young men. The anime will be directed by Kiyomo Sayaka who worked with Vampire Knight. Similar to Hetalia - Axis Powers, Starry Sky's anime will be distributed through the Animate.tv website and other means.

but this story dusint deliver due to the eps only being 10 minets and from the first 2 eps jump around so mutch that I dont know what the fucks going on so il let you guys now how it plays out

gundam 00 awakening of the trailblazer

dont let the name fool you becuse this movie awakened nuthing in fact it was quite bland over all and didint rely fell like a gundam movie espesholy twords the end

hers a quic run down of the story its about 2 years after the events of season 2 and the EFG(earth federation guverment) has set its sites beond earth and into deep space perparing the massiv space cruser Celestial Being for a intersteler voig but a masterus foow from juperter has difret plains atacking people who have the trats of inovaters

i know invaders from jupiter what is this nadesico sadly now you see this movie thow still good dusint feel anything like a gundam movie if they tuck the gundam out and replased then with any other giant robot you woodint be abel to tell the difrince this is juat your run of the mill sci-fi anime movie

now with my thouts on the story dune lets move on the the tech aspect on this movie it looks great i watched it 2 times once in 480P and once in 720P and i can say it look good in bolth high and low rezalution but if i had to chus id go with the 720P it looks slitely better then its 480P conterpart

i have to say i am a fan of the OST thar wer sum rely good songs and BGMs but then agen its rare for me not to like a OST as long as its not to hip hopy or popy il probly like it

im not a fan of the art style thow this is sumthing i neverd liked from season 1 in not a fan of bishoen chariter desings i just dont think they belong in gundam anime

so my final thouts are this isint sumthing you need to run out and see but at the same time you dont need to avode it like the plage this time it its just do as you feel i gave it a 8 becuse i just pretended i wasint watching gundam and watched it as any other sci-fi anime movie so do as you like

toradora is geting a US relese but sadly not in the way it desevs

Toradora! , has been licensed for US distribution by NIS America (the video game company). Now they are planning on bringing it to the US, but recent comments by the company indicate they don’t want to take the risk of dubbing to English, are only releasing it in limited print, and online only (no “best buy”). I have seen other anime get similar treatment, but these are significantly lesser made anime. So Toradora! could be doomed to be trapped in the sale group of generic anime, but it could if given the full quality release (including English dub) be in the same sale and fame category as successful shows like Ouran Host Club. So this petition is for NIS to give Toradora! a proper English dubbed US release. I hope to show them there is enough of a market to warrant a dubbing and larger release.

il be watching the evants unfold as time gos on and will be leting evrone know if NIS recunsiters and give toradora a proer dub but even is its sub only i say go out and buy it the day it comes out this is one of the better love storys that iv seen in a long time
