Well today is the macross franchises 30 birthday so I thought I make a post about it. Im not going to review the animes as I have alredy done so see otakunick anime reviews (Macross Frontier: sayonara tsubasa) , and the songs go on , bomber do you remember appels, this macross is far from a zero, and fighter jets aliens and singing oh my to read reviews of all the macross animes and most of the movies. Because this post isint about review this anime hell I dont care if you even watch any of them this post is souly to thank macross and its creater Kawamori, Shoji for all the fun anime to watch. Now then normaly Id be celebrating a mile stone like this by marathoneing one of the shows I have not wached Like I did for gundams 30th. But sadly i cant do that as I have seen all of macross so insted hear I am giving thanks for such a great mecha franchis. So thank you kawamori you have us fighter jets that turn in to robots giant warmongering aliens and you made mari iijima one of the most well known pop stars among mecha fanboys oh and you also gave us missile spam thank you so much I wish you the best.
Hey guys its me Otakunick and boy do i have a treat for all my readers that are Macross fans. Well atlest the ones that don't think frontier is a steaming heap of shit. That's tight the second of the new Macross F movies has found its way to me and i have to say i rely did love it.
First off lets talk plot picking up from where the previous movie left off, Ranka's star career flourishes while Sheryl's health rapidly deteriorates after collapsing during a live performance. At the same time, separate factions are maneuvering behind the scenes seeking to control the Vajra horde by utilizing the singing abilities of the two songstresses. As the entire Macross Frontier fleet begins to wage the final war on the Vajra, Alto finally makes a choice between Ranka and Sheryl. That's right the princess himself makes up his mind ending what has probly been the most fought over love triangle in Macross history. Who dose his pick you ask well that's sum thing you'l have to see for you'r self or just go for 4chans /m/ bored thy have been biching and moaning about it since last night.
The art just like the last movie is great but not without its hick-ups. On more then one occasion i notest charter models that just did not look right. Granted it was not all the time but even so in this day and age you rely should not have problems like that especially in a movie of one of animes most well known franchises.
And what do you want me to say about the music its a fucking Macross movie its going to be great. Hell there are only three things that rely defines the hole franchise and that fighter jets that turn into robots badly resolved love triangles and great music. And even tho they acholy fixed the love triangle part that dos not mean the music is going to suck. Infact this movie's sound track just scored a place in my list of best sound tracks of the year right below skyrims OST.
So all and all i say check this out if you have seen the first movie. Because let me say you will not get it if you only watched the anime the story from these two moves and the anime cud not be any further apart unless you changed the charter models and names. and if you have not seen the first movie go find it and watch it now. thats right I got my hands on a copy of macross f the false songstress the first of two macross f movies that reteale the story of macross f in a completly difrent way I meen rely if you go into this exspecting a compalation like the gundam movies then be perpared to be dead wrong becuse aside from one or 2 evants(witch even thows are sumwhat difrent to the anime) this is a hole new macross f the over all story remans the same alto whants to fly ranka whant to sing shit hits the fan all the normol stuff youed exspet from macross but still this movie is alot better to the origanol anime in so many ways the first of witch is the art macross F came out when CGI was just becomeing the norm for anime and yes it looked good for its time but the cg valcarys didint quite fit in with the hand drown city when it came toy the tv serres but in this movie evrything looks like it fight right togeather and the fights(however few thare wher) wher great
the next thing on my list is the OST yea what do you exspet its macross ofcors its gana have a nice OST and hell thare are alot of singing songs in the movie Iv must have seen the lirics pop up on screen atlest 10 to 15 times thewout the movie witch I never once mined becuse thar songs I love Il never get tierd of aimo thow one song I wood have loved to hear in this movie was missing and that was triangel the first OP from the anime I understand why its not thare but still it wood have been nice to throw it in but other then that no real complaints
along with the songs and art the animation quolaty was amazing aswell then again I was waching it in 1080P so evrything was alredy going to look great but the fights realy wher brout up to a hole new level with this that it cud never get wen it first came out on tv it got so visholy intens that at one pont I had to puse it so I cud let my eyes rest a bit
ovcorse not evrything in this movie is good it sufers from random cuts meening that people end up places with no rime or reson for instens in the movie after ranka has a fight with ozuma about her singing and she runs off we get a cut to him being in a car with Cathy whar in the prier seen he was in his house how or why he gets into the car will be a complet lose to anyone who hasent seen the anime other then that this movie relly stands on its own 2 feet
over all I have to say fly out and find this movie and watch it if your a fan of macross and if this is your first introduction to macross then I say go back and watch from the first serres and come back becuse youl be better off that way and speeking of old macross anime in the prevews for the next movie we are treted to sumthing rely cool a VF-1s in niki basaras color skeem what this meens I have no clue but if basara shows up to sing with sherly and ranka I will litaraly shit bricks

now thare are a few stapols of macross that make it difrent from others the first being the way romance is handoled ushaly in macha anime the love story is a second thout whar as its a forthout and its alwas a love triangal and is rarely handeld well the second is music is alwas intracol part of the story and not just a theme and OST with one of the cast members being good at singing and for most of the time a profashanol idol or singer
now with out ferther a due the first macross anime I will be talking about in this massiv macross post will be the origanol SDF macross and I have to say this was one of the macha anime that salitafide the real robot gara after tamino made it with mobil suit gundam the the valkariys witch wer transorming jets that had three modes jet, gerwalk(a jet with arms and legs) and battarod(robot) and even in battrod mode they wer about haff the size of a MS and dispite thare only being grunt Mass protuction units in the hands of a well traing piolt cude do sum relly amazing things and to this day remain as me favret type of macha
now the story is abit stail by todays standerds but I still love it In 1999, an alien ship crashes on South Atalia Island and makes the human race aware of other life in space. Ten years later, the ship is reconstructed and christened as the SDF-1 Macross. However, on the day of its maiden voyage, an alien race called the Zentraedi make their appearance on Earth, beginning the UN Spacy/Zentraedi war that would change the history of both races forever.
I love the casts dynamic each cariter plays off eachother in a way that makes you relly grow atached to them witch makes its hard when sumthing happens to them witch it duse Im not gana lie thars sumthing that happens in this anime that makes kaminas death seem like nuthing and then thars cast members that you relly wish whood die but just dont
next up will ne the art witch is dated by todays standers it all being old 80s hand drown cels so thows that dont like that youl probly hate SDF macrosses art but it is still varry good art as far as I can remember thar are no WTF moments in it like thare was in gundam atlest for the fighting thare wer sum WTF moments in sum of the non fighing moments like a person randomly apering or disapering
the music is to be ecspected above avreg and for its time was relly good I love the op and ofcorse the iconic my boyfreand is a piolt song sung by minmai in the miss macross ep is relly nice
ofcorse no mater how mutch I like her singing that whont chang the fact minmai is a bitch who thinks nuthing other then herself

next up is macross 7 witch till macross plus came out was the derect sequel to SDF macross but since it came out first Il be talking about 7 and all its sequels/speshols firsrt
this is probly my favret macross anime the mecha in this look amasing the vf-19 kai aka the fire valcary as to be my favret type of valkary and niki basara has to be the greates singer of all time for what he acomplashis in this anime and max is by far the greates macross capten and also one of the great mistarys of the world him being nerly 50 but not looking a day ofer 30
35 years have passed since Lynn Minmay had brought peace between the Zentradi and the humans in the events of Macross. Nekki Basara is a guitarist and a singer of the band Fire Bomber. Living in a less-developed part of the flying colony City 7 which is looking for a habitable planet, he composes and sings songs in the belief that music holds a greater power.
During its flight, an unknown alien race appeared and started laying siege upon City 7. However, its attacks are not conventional -- instead of trying to destroy them, they steal what is known as "spiritia", rendering victims unresponsive and zombie-like. During these battles, Basara always goes out into the middle of the warzone, singing his songs and expecting friend and foe to listen and be moved by his music.
and sepicing of the music macross 7 has to have the greates sound track in macros I love all the songs from fire bomber and wood love to acholy have thar records on CD and being a produc of the 90s its not saprising I love this growing up in the 90s myself
now despite this being my favret macross anime thare is sum big problems with it and that wood be in the animation but its not the quolaty thats great its the use of reused animation its relly bad its to the pont that over 80% of the fights are reused I cant tell you how many times Iv seen a valkary destroy a enamy gust to be hit from behind exsplode sending an escap pod out just to be capcherd its relly bad but I dont watch macross 7 for the fights I wach it for the cast
witch is great 2 chariters from SDF macross come back and play saporting rolse one being max and the other being his wife Milia and like in UC gundam they dont overshadow the new cast thow I dont see how anyone cud over shadow niki basara the man is so gun ho about singing it wood put any one to shame so he duse have sum flaws for the most part he remans the same thewout the anime never relly growing up but that in itself was probly a preconseved idea
like SDF macross macross 7 gets 10 badd ass rock solos out of 10
the next macross on my list will be macross 7 dynamite a short 4 ep OVA witch picks up Less than a year after the events that transpired in the Macross 7 TV series, Basara leaves Fire Bomber and travels to the planet Zola. There, he meets a girl named Elma, who is a big fan of Fire Bomber. It is also on this planet where he must once again use his Spiritia powers; this time, to stop an army of poachers and Elma's father Graham from killing a group of space whales travelling within the planetary system.
all the cast come back in this and over all thars not mutch I can talk about this ova its not relly that good nore is it bad infact they cud have just taked it on the end of the anime thow it did have one thing going for it and that wood be the op
in the end i have to give macross 7 dynamite 7 exsplotions out of 10
now we get to arguably the best instolment of macross macross plus I relly dont see why thow yes its looks and sounds great but it was to mutch like top gun for my tasts and I didint relly like any any of the main cast and the plot twist at the end revolving to of the castmembers didint make sence at all becuse of the action of sed cast members erlyer in the OVA

now the one of the two saving grases of this OVA is the singing the op is great like all macross anime
the next saving grace for this OVA also has to to with one of my complants and that is the fights yes I sed it was to mutch like top gun and becuse of that we get sum great fighting and its becuse of this I give macross pluse 6 zentrodie freek outs out of 10
last on my list if macross frontier this is the newist instolment into the franchis and is farly good granted the love triangel was handoled so badly that it even made macross 7s love triangel look good but aside from that evrything els was great the cast thow anoying was handeld well and the music like alwas relly good and F has alot of thow backs to older macrosses with ranka sining my boyfreands a piolet in the miss macross compation just like minmai did and the fighting is great the CG was relly handoled well in this anime and the storys good
After being threatened by extinction at the hands of alien invaders called the Zentradi, humanity undertook the task of guaranteeing itself a future by launching fleets of colony ships into space.
